Website Design, Coding and Programming

We are proud of the transition we led The New York Landmarks Conservancy through, giving a 21st- Century facelift to the website of this very important and venerable non-profit organization.

We were inspired by and took our visual cue from the conservancy’s logo by renowned designer Ivan Chermayeff. After assessing information architecture requirements and consulting with the staff regarding their needs, we created a flexible and dynamic publishing site using a customized version of ExpressionEngine Content Management System. ExpressionEngine is a robust PHP/MySQL solution that, because of its modular nature, can be readily customized as needed and is very accommodating of third-party applications such as Google maps, which we use throughout the site.

All menu and slide show animation is built using standard-based HTML/CSS and Javascript, rather than Flash. This increases search-engine optimization and is more compatible with mobile browsers, such as iPhone’s Mobile Safari.

With this simple, elegant and expanded site visitors can now instantly see where grants and loan projects are located, view photos of buildings the conservancy has helped and spread the information via a set of social tools. Visitors can also shop the conservancy’s publications through a custom e-commerce section of the site, donate or join the conservancy’s various membership levels.
